
Professor Sevtap Akbulut graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1995. Between 1996 and 1998, she worked as a general practitioner in the Develi district of Kayseri. She completed her specialist training in the Ear, Nose, and Throat Diseases Clinic at Dr. Lütfi Kırdar Kartal Training and Research Hospital in 2002 and became an Ear, Nose, and Head and Neck Surgery Specialist.
From 2002 to 2017, she worked as Chief Resident at the Ear, Nose, and Throat Diseases Clinic at Dr. Lütfi Kırdar Kartal Training and Research Hospital. From 2005 to 2009, she worked as a part-time specialist at the ENT Private Ear, Nose, and Throat Center. He became an Associate Professor in Ear, Nose, and Throat, Head and Neck Surgery in 2016 and a Professor in 2021. He worked at Yeditepe University School of Medicine from 2017 to 2020 and at Demiroğlu Bilim University School of Medicine from 2021 to 2024.
Between 2004 and 2014, he worked for extended periods as a Visiting Fellow, Clinical and Research Fellow, and conducted scientific studies at Voice Disease Treatment Centers at George Washington University in Washington, DC, Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pittsburgh.
Dr. Akbulut received the Turkish Ear, Nose, and Throat Association Board of Laryngology in 2012 and the European Ear, Nose, and Throat, Head and Neck Surgery Board of Laryngology in 2016. Since 2014, he has been an instructor at the Turkish Ear, Nose, and Throat Association School of Laryngology and Phoniatry, a program for otolaryngologists.
He has authored over 100 articles, proceedings, and book chapters in both international and domestic publications, and is a guest speaker and educator at numerous meetings both domestically and internationally. His research focuses on voice disorders, voice disorders of professional vocal artists, vocal cord and voice modification surgeries, speech disorders, laser laryngeal surgery, swallowing disorders and swallowing assessment, laryngeal EMG, and airway stenosis.
Dr. Akbulut, who also served as president of the Voice, Speech, and Swallowing Disorders Association, continues to serve actively on the association's board of directors. He is also the Turkish Coordinator of the Union of European Phoniatricians, a member of the International Association of TransVoice Surgeons, and the Professional Voice Association.
Dr. Akbulut is a scientist who has been passionately working in the fields of professional voice and singing voice, voice surgery, and swallowing disorders for many years, aiming to create positive changes in the lives of his patients and clients. He began his musical education at an early age with the Ankara State Opera and Ballet Children's Choir and continued his education at the Müjdat Gezen Art Center Evening School. He has been performing with various choirs for many years.
